How does Discover SCUBA Diving work?

The goal of Discover Scuba Diving in Oahu is to provide everyone the opportunity to try SCUBA diving for the first time. Your first dive should take place in the warm, clear water off Oahu. Every Discovery Dive is guided by a PADI-certified instructor, and they are never far away. Because of this, you can practice SCUBA diving before completely committing to the 2-Day PADI certification procedure.

We provide a half-day excursion that includes two shallow (maximum 40 feet) introductory boat dives at two separate sites as part of our Discover Hawaii scuba diving experience. No homework or assessments in the classroom are necessary. Before you get into the water, we will give you all the necessary instruction on the boat. The $150 fee includes the boat excursion, the instruction, all of your rental equipment, and your teacher!

What will you learn?

Towel, sunscreen, swimwear, snacks, drink, and an open mind are all you need to bring. Everything else you’ll need is already on board, and it will be waiting for you when you get there. The dive site and its surroundings will then be covered in detail in the briefing. Then we’ll start teaching you the fundamentals of SCUBA diving and how to keep yourself safe. You will learn how to recover your regulator, clear your mask, adjust your ear pressure to the water pressure, kick your fins correctly, and use some simple hand signals.

Discover SCUBA Diving Requirements

Before you go SCUBA diving, you must complete a waiver form and be at least 10 years old. Before trying to dive, it’s crucial to feel at least somewhat at ease in the water. We usually say that you are a good enough swimmer to try SCUBA diving with us if you can jump into a pool and swim back to the edge.
